Diabetes
Educational program for health care professionals
This program was designed with the newly diagnosed patient in mind, to aid health care professionals to explain through interactive animations, what is a very complicated problem, but we have also found patients with long standing diabetes finding the information contained in this program to be very useful.
The programs content is split into 4 main headings:
Condition – covering such topics as Anatomy, Blood glucose control and Types of diabetes.
Treatment – covering Type 1 and Type 2.
Complications – which includes Diabetic eye, Diabetic kidney, Neuropathy and Circulation.
Living With – probably the most popular patient part of the program covering Home glucose testing, Treatment adjustment, Illness management, Sport, Travelling, Alcohol and Pregnancy to name but a few.
Other features:
- Over 3 hours of interactive education using animated diagrams and pictures with subtitles and voice-over.
- Online enabled – the program can be viewed over the internet or purchased as a standalone cd-rom (to be used directly from the cd or as an installation). The ability to install over a network or intranet is possible, subject to the purchased multiple-user licence.
- Guidelines – the program incorporates the NSF, NICE and European Guidelines.
- Leaflets – the user can read and print out pdf quality leaflets.
- Toolkit – designed especially with the practice nurse in mind. As an example this contains a midwife self-assessment tool.
- Audit Trail – provides the ability to audit the education that has been delivered. A record of which animations have been viewed can also be printed out.
